Greetings all. We’re writing today about some upcoming logistical changes here at Mid Century Cinema. We have to transition from both our web-host and our software template. (Our name, address, and content will remain the same.) During that process, we hope to be able to transfer our list of subscribers (those who receive e-mail notifications whenever there is a new post). But that might not happen smoothly—apparently that’s a complex move, and the entire editorial team and senior management here is pretty low-tech (we still use dixie cups and string for our in-house intercom system). So it is possible that you will have to go to the site on your own in the next few weeks or months to see if there are new posts—but the plan is to eventually have a new “subscription” option on the reconfigured site.
And—act now while supplies last!! (Well, actually don’t act right now, as the transition is still forthcoming.) And the supply remains unlimited. Nevertheless, we do have some good stuff coming soon we hope you won’t want to miss: our take on Town Bloody Hall (via Cineaste); a review of that new book on Chinatown (over at Bright Lights Film Journal); our chapter on Peter Yates’ New Hollywood years will also be added when our copy of this volume arrives; and, hopefully, in the not-too distant future we’ll be posting our long-form interview with legendary film historian and critic David Thomson.
And all for the same low price you’ve come to expect!
In the meantime, don’t worry about us, we’ll be fine (here’s a live shot from the home office):
